We are not at this time canvassing neighborhood businesses. Please ask for proper ID and call 911 to report any suspicious activity. Since the RNA is a 501 (c)(3) corporation, you will always receive proper acknowledgement of your tax-deductible contribution for your tax records.
Background: Kelly Holman of Kelly’s Kuts, 2108 St. Johns Blvd. in Rosemere, made a statement publicly the night of April 2, 2004, that she had been solicited several times for donations totalling $600 by the Rosemere Neighborhood Association. She later elaborated that this had taken place over the last couple of years and she had never gotten any receipts yet had claimed the amount as a deduction on her income taxes. When contacted by the Vancouver Police Department on April 3, she claimed that she did not have the time and wasn’t interested in filing a report.
Scams of this nature are very common and we urge the public to exercise good judgement and always check things out thoroughly before making any type of donations! [added April 4, 2004]
